Comment:

The 2003 Merlot is another example of Rutherford Hill's deft touch with this grape.  The wine has great depth and texture.  Easily approachable, with fragrant berry and vanilla aromas and rich chocolate overtones, this is a wine to keep handy.  Will complement a long range of foods and be enjoyable on its own.

Rutherford Hill Winery sits in the famous Rutherford Bench of Napa Valley.  The winery was founded in 1976, the founders believing the conditions there would be ideal for Merlot, were among the first in California to concentrate on that varietal.  The original partnership sold the winery to their distributor, the Terlato Wine Group, in 1996.  The Terlato family's emphasis on quality above all soon elevated the Rutherford Hill  name to new heights, and today the winery is synonymous with fine Merlot.
