More than 15 years ago, purely by luck, Heron Hill was the very first winery we stopped as we stole a single day in the Finger Lakes from a trip elsewhere. Chance brought us to their door that Saturday, since they were to us only a name on a tour map. They captured us with their wine, their pleasant staff, and their beautiful view of the lake.
Heron Hill produces Riesling as their signature wine. This example is sure to be a hit with those who like their Rieslings crisp and dry. It is a favorite of ours, but if you prefer a different style try another one of Heron Hill's crowd pleasers. They produce several fine examples, including a Johannisberg and a Semi-Dry.
Heron Hill, a constant Gold Medal threat in wine competitions for their signature wines, is well worth the visit.
