Comment:
The 2001 Hosmer Cayuga White did well at the 2002 New York Wine & Food Classic, winning a Bronze Medal. At the 2003 event the Cayuga did better, winning Double Gold and being acclaimed as "Best Cayuga".
This is a fruity wine, light in taste, that will generally pair well with hot, spicy foods, fruits and cheeses, and similar items. We can't see it with a main meal, but it is delightful for drinking while you circulate through a throng at a party or sipping on the deck during one of the year's last warm, sunny days.
For those unfamiliar with the Cayuga grape, it is a hybrid developed by the New York State Agricultural Office at Geneva from the European Seyval Blanc and American route stock, very popular in the Finger Lakes area. The Hosmer version is the one we like best.
