Comment:

This is a table wine in a traditional Italian style, food-friendly with aromas of cherries and toasted oak.  Think of it for all the places you would drink a similar Italian red wine: pastas, pizzas, and other spicy dishes.

Sangiovese is a traditional Italian grape, the primary varietal used in making Chianti and also on its own.  It has only recently begun to see large production at wineries in this country.

Westfall is located in the far northwestern corner of New Jersey, not far from High Point, the greatest elevation in the state.  The farm was founded by the Westfall family in 1774, passing to the Mortimer family in 1940.  The Mortimers raised cows and Morgan horses here, and in 2001 a winery was founded by the current generation.
