Wine of the Month 1999 Blue Heron Meritage® 7627
Grape Vine Drive 610-298-3068 Comment: Here is the wine you want with that prime steak dinner when the relatives come over. Blue Mountain's Blue Heron is a pleasing surprise if you have never tasted Meritage before. It was a deserving award winner at the 2002 Eastern International Wine Competition. A well-balanced wine with a good finish and nice ruby-red color, just the sort of thing for steaks, roasts, or leg of lamb. Blue Heron is a blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, and 22% Cabernet Franc grapes. Meritage is a wine made in the style of the classic Bordeaux blends, with the full aroma and rich fruits you would expect. The name -- pronounced like heritage -- is the registered trademark of an association of vintners concerned with producing high-end wines in this style. Meritage can be either red or white, but certain strict rules are applied to the making of the wine. For more information on Meritage, visit The Meritage Association.
